“Five Minute Friday” – You May Feel LOST, But God Has a Plan!

Today, for the first time, I’m participating in Lisa-Jo Baker’s Five Minute Friday challenge. I love the idea of taking a single word as a writing prompt, and then just writing without prep or planning…for five minutes. As a blogger that spends so much time agonizing over every word I publish (yes, I admit it, this is true), just sitting here at my computer and typing freely and without pause is actually quite therapeutic and liberating. I may do this every Friday from now on…we’ll see 🙂 Continue reading

10 Points on Salvation: A Quick 10 Minute Lesson

Image

I was recently asked by my Pastor to teach a 10 minute lesson on Salvation.  I know, right!!?? Ten minutes on Salvation? Seriously???

This was part of a new “Battle Class” series, which focuses on various topics that many of us struggle with in our Christian walks. This 10 minute assignment was given to each “Battle Class” teacher, with no instruction other than to teach a 10 minute lesson on Salvation.

When this was first presented to me, I immediately wondered how I would be able to take such a huge and important foundational aspect of faith,  and boil it down to 10 minutes. I struggled for a while trying to figure out what my angle would be…do I just teach on a certain aspect of Salvation…or do I try to hit every point? Today just so happens to be my birthday. So I was saddened to hear that one of my heroes passed away today. I know she has gone on to be with the Lord, so I will not let the sadness harbor. Instead, I decided to honor just of few of the countless examples of Salt & Light this truly “Phenomenal Woman” shed upon this earth. I invite you to scroll through and be inspired…

What I’d Tell My 20-Year-Old Self

Image

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about my awesome Liebster Award nomination.  I was beginning to question my decision to start blogging, and I was wondering if I was having an impact. That nomination not only encouraged me, but it was the confirmation that I was looking for to keep going. A few days later, I was nominated AGAIN by another blogging buddy, Ciara from Our Little House in the Country. Thank you so much Ciara, I really appreciate the “shout out”! I’ve finally gotten around to responding to your nomination…sorry it’s taken so long!

One of the questions that Ciara asked me was “What would you tell your 20-year-old self?” Wow, what a thought-provoking question! There was so much that I thought I knew back then, but I realize now, I knew nothing! So since I’ve already posted the “official” Liebster Award response  before with the rules, Q&A, additional nominations, etc., I’ve decided to expand on this one question instead. (And to Ciara…I hope you don’t mind! I did answer your remaining 10 questions at the end of this post.)

A Few Things I Thought I Knew, But Truly Had No Clue…

6 Ways to Add God to Your Child’s Day

Image

My husband and I were blessed to be able to send one of our children to a private Christian school for Pre-K and Kindergarten. We are a blended family and only one of our children live with us full-time – otherwise we would have tried to do this for all of them. The biblical foundation and the amazing seeds that were planted during those two early and impressionable years have really made a difference in our 7-year-old daughter’s life. As it turns out, this also happens to be our most strong-willed child. So the early connection between life lessons and biblical application has done wonders to help us in shaping her emotional and spiritual barometer – and it has also helped to curb certain behaviors that we once struggling with. I guess God knew what he was doing when He worked it out for her to be the one to attend this school, huh? Continue reading

With only 5 blog posts under my belt (well this actually makes 6), I am extremely thrilled and honored to find out that my blog has been nominated for a Liebster Award. Kimberly at The Adventures of “But” Mom nominated me for the award, and I just want to extend my sincere appreciation and a very loud, ear-drum shattering “Thank you sooo much!” to my new blogging buddy!
