I count it a blessing to have the opportunity to learn from such an amazing Pastor, and some truly awesome ministers of God’s word. Sunday after Sunday I feverishly scribble down notes, and in between the shouting and jumping from my seat, I manage to jot down some great nuggets that I believe God himself pours out for me…for us. So I’d like to share some encouragement, that I pray leaps from my notepad into your heart. Continue reading
God did not intend for us to be fearful. In fact, he wants us to be strong and courageous. He wants to move us from bondage to liberty. I touched on this in my last post, Breaking the Chains of Fear (Part One): 7 Fundamental Truths About Fear, which was part one of a two-part series. The focus of this series is conquering emotionally destructive fear – the kind of fear that breeds worry and anxiety, that robs us of a joy-filled life and causes us to step outside of God’s will. While my previous post took a look at the ways the enemy uses fear as a form of bondage against God’s people, now I’d like to take a look at what God’s Word says about conquering this fear.
I recently taught a bible study lesson on conquering fear. Fear is a common part of the human experience. Depending on the translation, it’s mentioned over 250 times in the Bible, which leads me to believe that God wants us to be mindful of this issue and to address it. Due to the lengthy content of my study, I decided to break it up into two parts. Part One takes a look at what fear is and how it affects God’s people. Part Two is a deeper dive into what God’s word says about fear, and how to get the victory over it. I pray this blesses and encourages! Continue reading
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about my awesome Liebster Award nomination. I was beginning to question my decision to start blogging, and I was wondering if I was having an impact. That nomination not only encouraged me, but it was the confirmation that I was looking for to keep going. A few days later, I was nominated AGAIN by another blogging buddy, Ciara from Our Little House in the Country. Thank you so much Ciara, I really appreciate the “shout out”! I’ve finally gotten around to responding to your nomination…sorry it’s taken so long!
One of the questions that Ciara asked me was “What would you tell your 20-year-old self?” Wow, what a thought-provoking question! There was so much that I thought I knew back then, but I realize now, I knew nothing! So since I’ve already posted the “official” Liebster Award response before with the rules, Q&A, additional nominations, etc., I’ve decided to expand on this one question instead. (And to Ciara…I hope you don’t mind! I did answer your remaining 10 questions at the end of this post.)
A Few Things I Thought I Knew, But Truly Had No Clue…
My husband and I were blessed to be able to send one of our children to a private Christian school for Pre-K and Kindergarten. We are a blended family and only one of our children live with us full-time – otherwise we would have tried to do this for all of them. The biblical foundation and the amazing seeds that were planted during those two early and impressionable years have really made a difference in our 7-year-old daughter’s life. As it turns out, this also happens to be our most strong-willed child. So the early connection between life lessons and biblical application has done wonders to help us in shaping her emotional and spiritual barometer – and it has also helped to curb certain behaviors that we once struggling with. I guess God knew what he was doing when He worked it out for her to be the one to attend this school, huh? Continue reading
